SPACECUBE: Sustainable Modular Solutions for Major Events

From the Australian Open to the F1 Grand Prix, SPACECUBE has had the opportunity to power some of the nation’s leading events with its modular building solutions.

From the Google Pixel Studio experiential activation and M&M’s first-ever retail location in the Southern Hemisphere, to operational infrastructure for international broadcasting, food and beverage services, first aid, fan engagement, and high end brand activations at the Australian Open, SPACECUBE’s footprint was wide and varied.

That presence extended to the F1 Australian Grand Prix, where the team brought to life standout brand activations, from providing the modular infrastructure for Casa Ferrari to delivering exclusive experiential solutions and other premium installations across the event precinct.

While the infrastructure was modular and temporary, each structure delivered a sense of permanence, ensuring guests enjoyed a premium experience. The modular structures were repurposed across both major events, demonstrating the versatility of the SPACECUBE Build System.

All units used at the Australian Open were designed for rapid deployment and dismantling, enabling over 4,000 square metres of product to be reused and scaled up to nearly 6,000 square metres for the F1 Grand Prix.

SPACECUBE’s Modular Approach to Circularity & Lifecycle Planning

Through the thoughtful reutilisation of materials, SPACECUBE was able to deliver modular structures that are not only functional and visually striking but, most importantly, reusable, a direct reflection of our commitment to sustainability.

Each structure is designed with a purpose: built to be dismantled, transported, and reassembled to meet the demands of future events.

Picture this: from testing reaction speeds at the Pirelli brand activation and purchasing snacks at AiFi’s Quick Serve store, powered by integrated cashless technology sponsored by Mastercard, to sipping champagne inside the refined surrounds of Casa Ferrari’s hospitality suite, SPACECUBE’s modular build system is designed to move, adapt, and ultimately, endure.

Australian Open 2025

SPACECUBE’s modular structures have featured at the Australian Open for the last eight years, and SPACECUBE has been working in partnership with Tennis Australia delivering a wide range of operational facilities, from international broadcasting, food and beverage stands to retail outlets, merchandise stores, and information booths for the fourth consecutive year.

Among the standout builds enhancing the event experience were:

  • A purpose-built International Broadcasting facility designed to accommodate local and international broadcast teams, media, technical operations, and support staff. Adapted from the previous year’s structure, the build was reconfigured to create a larger, more functional space.
  • A striking multi-level modular structure for the Google Pixel Studio, allowing fans to create and capture content on the latest Pixel 9 Pro.
  • A wrap-around food and beverage hub for D.O.C, combining standard cubes with dual serving areas and a centrally located cooking station.
  • A vibrant M&M’s pop-up store, brought to life with bold signage and a colourful, immersive fit-out.
  • The AiFi Mastercard QuickServe Store, enabling fans to purchase snacks and drinks using integrated monitoring technology, removing the need for cash and scanning of barcodes.

Australian Grand Prix 2025

A month later, SPACECUBE had the opportunity to repurpose modular structures directly from the Australian Open to deliver 14 custom builds for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne’s Albert Park.

These modular structures formed the backbone of several high-profile brand activations and hospitality suites across the event precinct. Highlights included:

  • Casa Ferrari, a premium hospitality suite that elevated the Ferrari brand experience through a custom-designed modular structure featuring luxurious finishes and refined detailing.
  • The 330 Club, returning to the Grand Prix with an expanded footprint that included private commentary boxes, a fully equipped kitchen catered by Atlantic Group, an internal accessible elevator, and a rooftop super screen for an immersive viewing experience.
  • The Precinct, a striking three-storey structure built with a combination of standard cubes, curved mini cubes, stair modules, roof terraces, and integrated ceiling awnings, delivering one of the best vantage points on the circuit.
  • Slipstream, a tiered hospitality facility offering sweeping 360-degree views of the track, the lake, and the city skyline, all from a sustainably reconfigured three-level modular build.
  • LEGO Pit Stop Park featured two engaging modular spaces, one a retail store and the other a brand activation, where fans of all ages could play on-site or take home a piece of the F1 action.

Why Modular Structures Require Sustainable Design?

Designed with adaptability at its core, SPACECUBE’s Build System has no fixed front, back, or side, allowing it to be reconfigured to suit any site condition or design requirement.

At the close of every event, each SPACECUBE modular structure is efficiently flat-packed, relocated, and ultimately repurposed for future builds, whether for an experiential marketing solution, premium hospitality suite, food and beverage outlets, broadcasting studios or operational infrastructure.

Thanks to a versatile range of plug-and-play panels and accessories, we can deliver custom solutions using entirely off-the-shelf components. Each build comes pre-integrated with essential infrastructure, from drainage systems to lighting, creating a self-sufficient environment and reducing reliance on external trades and services.

In essence, SPACECUBE’s modular system represents the future of sustainable design. Every component is reused in the creation of new structures, significantly reducing material waste.

With durability engineered into every element, these builds also boast a longer life cycle. As industries push toward more eco-conscious practices, modular and sustainable design is fast becoming a key differentiator, helping forward-thinking brands cut through the noise through innovation and environmental responsibility.
