Our Story
Where do we start?
Well, just over ten years ago, Spacecube was born. In Australia. In Melbourne. The event capital of the world.
What Jeremy set out to do was driven by his motivation for change and a passion for reducing waste and inefficiencies within the event industry. Jeremy then embarked on pulling together a team of talented and enthusiastic people who believed in the product and vision for the business. No ordinary ambitions or goals were going to cut it for these guys!
The Spacecube team, now led by Jeremy and Mark Davies, want to change the way the world builds. It is worth reading that again to yourself and thinking about it for a minute or two. Certainly, gets you out of bed early if you’re going to bite of that for a company purpose.
10 years later our highly unique modular building system has reshaped the way we view building methods and ordinary, repetitious practices which are no longer purpose fit for our planet.
Working with Alfred Health (Victoria’s most comprehensive health care service provider) we designed and built a 205sqm modular building system to create a new Emergency Short Stay Unit at Sandringham Hospital. And with Monash Health, we built a Covid -19 Medical facility in 3 weeks with the structure being installed it in just 15 hours using 25 cubes over two levels. All to negative-pressure room medical standards. Anything but ordinary.
In 2020, we were pleased to have Taronga Ventures join the Spacecube journey, firstly by being selected in Taronga Ventures’s global innovation growth program – RealTechX – and then subsequently receiving growth capital from their investment Fund. Taronga Ventures is a leading global technology and innovation investor in real asset innovation with a focus on scalable emerging technologies driving ESG and sustainability outcomes across real assets.
One thing we’ve learnt over the journey, is that this “changing the world” business is a no one-person thing. At Spacecube you’ll find some pretty damn passionate people doing what they love. That now includes our Board of the wise and the experienced. People who respect and support our ambitions and values.
And just a heads up… not everything, or everyone, you’ll find at Spacecube fits into a cookie-cutter, management speak approach to life. Our team is a gregarious group of talented warriors who have been with us throughout the journey. Tested by pandemic shutdowns, we have come out the other side unified and are determined to keep doing things intelligently, differently.
